Ornamental

If you've been following my blog, you are well aware of my love for ornamental objects. Which is why I so often add ornamentation to my redesigns. One of my favorite finds recently, is this pedestal.

It stands 28 inches tall and has a great deal of detail.

Right now, I have a vintage glass bowl sitting on top.

Which is another ornate piece I like.

Now, for all you fellow cherub lovers,

this small plaque is someting I've had for quite a while. I picked it up at an estate sale, it's been all over the house, and I love it.

This cherub mirror is another find by, yes, my husband.

I love the cherubs, the ornamentation, and the time worn glass.

OK, I am contemplating giving the metal frame a silvery white finish like the plaque. I think it would compliment the mirror. The purist in me says NO. The artist in me says YES. What do you think? Should I do it?

Cherub Chest

So, what was I up to with this little cherub?

Well, the last time you saw this tall chest,

it looked like this.

After adding base trim, and my little cherub, this is the stage I was in when during my last post. Multiple layers of white, green, and blue.

I then applied a sand color.

After sanding back to reveal multiple layers of paint, I applied stain and other brews, along with a satin finish.

This piece reminds me of a skyscraper.

I decided to use different hardware for the cherub drawer.

That is how the cherub, and the chest, became a "Cherub Chest". Love cherubs, I've used them before on my redesigns, and I will again.

Serendipity

I have a passion for cherubs and figural objects.

Today, my husband came home with these plaques......

and this mirrored sconce.

I love the whimsical cherubs in this plaque,

Funny thing is, I was in the middle of a redesign when he gave them to me. A redesign that includes this........

Hmmmmm.......Serendipity? I'm almost finished. The reveal is coming soon.

Market Pics

Before it becomes too much of a faded memory, here are a few pics from my antique market this past weekend at The Arboretum.

Yes, I decided to bring my oversize tub, and to my chagrin, it was the first thing to sell. Sometimes I put, what I think is a price high enough that someone will have to think about it...NOT

This garden display was by my friend Karrin at Steeplechase Antiques. She was also hosting the event.

My inspirational fountain.

My friend Catherine checking out one of my tables. Chatherine did a little feature on me at the market, check it out on her blog http://freddyandpetunia.files.wordpress.com/

The items that flew immediately, aside from my beloved....

were...

along with a lot more throughout the day. It was an easy pack for me. Thanks to all who came out.

Check back soon to see what I do with this....
