This small stand is my latest rescue.
I found him sitting, very sad, in an antique shop. He was such a cute size and shape. I knew he had the potential to be a nice little statement piece.
I painted him a soft blue/grey.....
and added......Say it with me.....EMBELLISHMENTS
I wanted the added detail to jump out a little, so I highlighted them in a soft white. I then did a little distressing and changed out the hardware.
See the cute vintage wallpaper I added to the inside.
I went over him with my usual stains and brews, which brought out the detail more.
Now my little guy is standing proud.
OK, on to the next. See ya soon!
This a beauty Rosemary. I love your work!

Looks awesome, Rosemary! Thanks for your nice comments on our posts. See you at Kane. xo
ReplyDeleteI love your vision. It's amazing! I'm wondering where you get your embellishments? I'll have to browse around your blog a while and see.

I love the added detail you put on there!!! So inventive!!! Im going to have to remember that trick for my next "adventure!"
ReplyDeleteI love how you distinguish between the guys and gals in your pieces. I do the same. If it's blocky, boring, and a bit nondescript, it's a guy. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking your lovelies to the party, Rosemary.

ReplyDeleteHi Rosemary...
ReplyDeleteOhhh my...this little cabinet is sooo pretty! I love, love, LOVE the finish and adding the embellishments was perfect! I would love to have a piece like this at my place! You did a great job, my friend! I'm curious...was wondering where you find that type of embellishments? I have never seen them before. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece with us...such a treat!
Warmest wishes,
Chari
A+-DORABLE!! Rosemary I love your treatment of this little table! I actually passed on a Louis XVI style bed table with a rough finish because I felt I was too lazy to paint it *winks* But tomorrow I'm running back to the thrift to pick it up! Can I ask what you use to make your embellishments? I have a piece of plaster detail missing on a vanity in my guestroom and I'd love to be able to replace it. You're a HUGE inspiration my friend! Vanna
ReplyDeleteWow, wish I had your vision! I actually have a similar table (was my mom's bedside table, probably 50-60 years old). You've inspired me to go for it, despite my lack of experience at this sort of thing! Wish me luck!
