Plastered

No, not me. This frenchy table I just finished. My inspiration for this redesign was the look of peeling plaster or a fresco.







Here is the before.


This is another piece that sported those swoopy carvings I don't care for. I troweled on plaster to tone them down, leaving just a hint of the design. I also added gesso here and there to mimic the plaster. After sanding the plaster back, I applied a soft green paint. With more sanding, that peeling plaster feel started to take shape.


After some scraping with a trowel, and another sanding, I got the look I wanted.




In keeping with the fresco inspiration, I added a faded rose to the top.

Thanks for following along with Me, I of course had to do the same~ Also Thank You for the Going Bold, I was thinking the color of My Table in the Studio which is a Great Blue (My Favorite Color) I was thinking maybe Old Book pages on the inside, What do you think about that?

    I'm in awe of your talent. I'm just starting to venture into the redesign/remodel/repaint (hopefully not re-ruin) process. So far I've done some stain stripping but I have never finished anything. Finally this past weekend I began my project of beautifying (jury still out on that one) an old china cabinet. So far she is sanded and primed and waiting for a little repair to the bottom. I don't know what color I want to paint her or if I want to paint the inside the same color, a darker color, or leave it dark inside. I'll do a post of it in the next couple days and send you a link and maybe you have a suggestion. I love your blog because it is so full of ideas and stunning results. Keep 'em coming!!
