Before and Afters

I have soooooo many redesigns in the works. I'll be sharing along the way. Here are a couple before and afters.

This table already had a rather substantial presence, so I kept the redesign subtle.


Before.


I attached an ornate medallion and applied several layers of white gesso. I then added a design to the top using an unconventional material.

I purchased this netting at a garage sale a while ago and immediately thought it would make a nice stencil. I draped it over the table,


and sprayed heirloom white paint over the top.



I then did a wash over the entire table with watered down grey gesso, which brought out the design. The effect is very subtle.

After lots of cleaning, sanding the tops, and building up a couple of the feet,


I used the same gesso treatment. I added a little extra grey to the finish, and hints of black in the details. I also did a small floral design in the center.

    Rosemary, you are one buzzzzyyy bee lady. These are all beautiful and I hope they all find a good home for all the love and energy that goot put into them. That's what makes them so special. You know wanted to say in my post that y son got to paint his walls dak blue in the end..lol so they might as well have been black but then agin his Harry potter posters just pop against the dark blue walls and even I love it!

    the differnce in that before and after of the table is unbelievable. Why do men like wood finishes? I think the paint job you did was far superior to plain old wood showing.
