I just gave my candelabra style lamp a little makeover.
Here it is before.
My inspiration was my art deco lamp base.
So, I dry brushed the candelabra with metallic silver, and touches of green.
It has more depth now, and the silver reflects beautifully in the crystals.
Working on my next redesign. Check back to see how an old, and recent find, became the perfect marriage.

Transfer and Cherubs
I gave you a teaser at the end of my last post. So, what was I working on? Something you can hang on the wall.
I saved the back board from a gessoed frame. I gave it three coats of gesso. After it was dry, I transferred the image with my Splendid Blender. Tutorial here.
Transferring images onto painted surfaces can be a little tricky. I can give you a few tips, but you really have to just practice. I would suggest perfecting your technique on a sample first. Flat paint works best. Sand the surface a little for a sharper image. Don't rub the pen forever, or you may release the paint. If you decide to use a sealer, make sure it is completely dry. It will help if you sand the image a little to get rid of excess residue from the pen.
Here is another redesign using paint/gesso and a transfer.
This is part of my nesting tables, I'll be adding cherubs to the other two.
I have a cherub theme going here.
There are even more options, but I'll save them for future posts.
Remember, this is a trial and error technique. Certain brands of paint may have an effect on your image, there may be strings of ink when you lift your print, etc. Practice, practice, practice.
More redesigns await.

More Transfer
This iron base bench is one of my recent finds. It was covered with a very dirty green material. It was part of a pile of furniture I purchased at an estate sale. If I recall, I paid around $5 for it. I didn't paint the base. I just gave the cushion a makeover.
I used my Splendid Blender transfer method to add cherubs to another piece of coffee/dye linen material. I didn't stir the dye too much, because I didn't want a uniform color. I wanted it to look faded in spots.
Just like the chair from my previous post.
For those of you who have asked, "Can you use the Splendid Blender to transfer onto other surfaces?". Yes, you can. I used it on this 25 cent bucket.
There are a few tricks to make it work properly. I'll be back with a tutorial. In the mean time, can you guess what I used the technique on here?
It's part of a really cool redesign.

Blue Trio
I could have done two separate posts on these, but I thought they looked good together.
I used one of my gesso/paint mixtures on all three. Before recovering the seat on the chair with linen material, I transferred the image with the Splendid Blender method. Then I aged it with a combination of coffee and dye.
I left the drawers of the two stands wood, and distressed the rest. I followed with a little stain.
Here are the before pics.
So, there you have my blue trio.

Lace and Bottles
I had so much fun with my altered bottle, I made more, and did another lace design. It was a nice break after spending a good deal of the morning prepping furniture.
I used a cherub transfer on this bottle. You can see my altered bottle w/Splendid Blender transfer tutorial here.
After I finished the bottles, I altered this piece.
The before.
I used a lace design, the same colors I used here, and spray painted vintage rings. These are the rings that were used for hanging pictures, mirrors, and plaques. Now they are drawer pulls.
Time to get some rest. Finishing up some of my furniture tomorrow.

Frenchy Cane Back
While in the midst of a dozen or so redesigns, I managed to snap a few pics of this frenchy cane back chair I finished. I used a base coat of black followed by dry brushing with white gesso.
I covered the seat with vintage ticking. I used the reverse side of the fabric.
The before.
Soooooo many projects to get to. I'll have more to share all week.
