A Complimentary Piece

I began working on this one drawer stand, right after I finished the chest from my last post. I wanted to share the variation in placement of the lace design.

Here is the before.  A $15 garage sale find.

I gave it the same paint treatment as the chest, but I put the lace design on the drawer. I also switched out the hardware. I actually had a knob that matched the medallion. The little prism is just an added touch.

Though not the same style, using the same basic design makes it a nice compliment to the chest.

  2. Isn't it amazing what a little prism will do - love that touch. Also, I like how the lace pattern ties these two different pieces together.

  9. love it!! as a little stand for a lamp, it's better to be able to see the lace pattern because whatever is on top will cover up most of the pattern..this is perfect..

  15. Thanks for popping by, I love your furniture techniques, I too paint and experiment with paint and gesso. One technique I'll share with you, maybe you have tried it before, but when I want to naturally crackle a piece, I slather on the paint heavy in a mish mash of directions, then I move a hot hair dryer over it, the thicker areas will crackle naturally, but you have to do each side lying flat or the thick paint will run, but it gives a great look to the pieces! If I can find one of my examples, I'll email it to you...can you have too much fun in this biz...didn't think so, LOL!!!
