Sometimes I'll do a redesign, not really like it, and put it away until I trip over it in my garage. This little stool is one of them.
I couldn't find the absolute before photo, but it was wood with a very worn and thin pad in the center. I did this at first, but wasn't that crazy about it. Away it went, into the back of my garage.
The other day, I tripped over it. Hmmm, how about a different look entirely. I removed the pad, gave the base a thick coat of white gesso, and laid a slate tile on top. I stamped the lettering on.
It also makes a great chalkboard.
Now, it's a nice little side table.
So, what do you think. Did you like the bold color better?

ReplyDeleteThe blue was lovely, but I would have liked it better if "dream" was larger. Ya gotta have BIG dreams, right? That said, I really like the redo. It's so versatile. Where, may I ask, do you find slate that size and already squared up?

I bet it would be so much fun rambling thru your garage Rosemary! Love the little stool. What is the purpose of the gesso? I have seen it before, but have never known what it is for.
ReplyDeleteI love the chalkboard paint! I wish they sold it where I live...I'd love to have you link up at my new linky party -

Thought about you all day today as I was gessifying a couple of handled urns today. I start with a darker shade of grey as a base and go over it with lighter layers. In some places though, it is starting to peel off....what am I doing wrong Rosemary? Help! SOS! :D
I like the newest reo. It would be great to write quick phone no or appointments on in a hurry. Very clever idea.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Ellen
I like, I like!!! The second one looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWell hello gorgeous! Those legs are amazing and I think they show up much more now that they're not competing with the bright color. Love it!!!
