Hint of Blue

This dresser box was already painted a creamy white, with unpainted drawers. My original intention was to distress it a little, change the knobs, and call it a day. That changed when I started sanding.

This is the before.

Sanding revealed a hint of blue.

So, I changed my intention from slightly to heavily distressed. I also decided to add and a little musical touch. I transferred small segments of sheet music to the drawers,

and top,

using my Splendid Blender method. I used two of the ornate backers, like the one I used on my carrier.

Then I added small metal knobs.

I'm glad I discovered the hint of blue, and kept going with additions.

I think it has much more character now.

  29. Hi - I love the work you do, and am an avid follower of your blog since finding it. I recently tried the Splendid Blender method, but missed out on the fact that it doesn't work with inkjet copies...doh... My question - do you keep a huge stack of photocopies of things you might eventually use, or do you have a photocopier at home? Best wishes, Debbie
