My husband purchased a box full of curtain rods and tie-backs at an auction for very little. Only a few are intact. He figured I could do something with the broken pieces.
He was right.
I started with this.
I used horseshoes for handles. Like I did in "Redesigning With Parts III". Then I gave it a coat of grey paint. I followed with a whitewash on the exterior, and horseshoes. After gluing vintage french book pages to the interior, I went over the entire piece with dark wax.
I then added curtain rod fragments to both sides. I gave them a little dark wax as well.
I even waxed the french paper.
I have a few more carriers I'll share soon.

ReplyDeleteI just love this. Wonderful how you have combined a wide selection of materials. Keep on sharing your wonderful ideas. Love you from South Africa.
I love these organizer type boxes and they're very good sellers for me at shows! I love the idea of using horseshoes for handles! I was just at a store that sells them fairly reasonable, but couldn't think of anything to do with them at the time. Wished I would have thought of handles (duh moment!) It's 4 hours away, so I'm not likely to make the trip back for another year. LOL!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love your creativity! ;)
ReplyDeletestunning little rustic box...perfect for many uses..
