I'll be using a lot of silver and white this Christmas. Yesterday, I was playing around with the top of my chippy cabinet. I don't have a fireplace mantel, but I have surfaces around the house I'll be dressing up. I wanted a festive spot to look at in my studio, and silver and white say festive to me. I just grabbed a few things I already had and altered some of it.
In my last post you saw what looked like a crown.
This is actually part of a light fixture that I dry brushed with gesso,
and inserted one of my silver roses in the top.
I've been finding quite a few items in my stash that remind me of a crown. Like this cup holder. I shared this in an earlier post. It was gold. I painted it nickel silver.
One of my doves made it over to next in lavender. Yes, I'm using lavender in my Christmas decor. Why not?
A lamp fragment was painted white, and serves as a pedestal. Do you recognize that piece holding the lavender? It's the base of a footstool I shared here. I removed the cushion and turned it upside down. Hmmm, it's sorta crown like too.
My "snow" is gauze. I may sprinkle a little glitter on it.
Like I said, this may not be traditional Christmas decor, but I like it. So, the top of my chippy cabinet has gone from this,
to this.
My angel bell gives my little mantel on the other side of the studio a festive feel.
and I'm incorporating my other ideas seen here around the house.
I'll be sharing as everything comes together.
