I finished two carriers today. Each has a different look, but they both involved white gesso. This first one was just a simple wood carrier with a metal handle. A little too simple. So, I added appliques, gave it multiple layers of gesso, lightly distressed it, and applied a numeral. I thought about doing a heavy distressed look, but changed my mind. It seems happy this way.
This next carrier started as a sewing machine drawer.
I dry brushed gesso on this one, and attached vintage handles. The interior was given a grey wash. In the area of the missing knob, I used filler, and inserted one of my numbered tacks.
The applique was already there. The wash brought out the details.
I found the handles in my stash. They fit perfectly.
Yes, I made another Christmas bottle. I used the same technique seen here, but distressed this one a little.
Two carriers, two looks, and another bottle. I show you what I did with the teaser from my last post next time.

The first one is my favorite. Love the applique, wish I could find ones like you do! I broke down and bought a few appliques at Hobby Lobby (I know) to add to a project I'm doing. Hope I can somehow make it look half as good as yours!
