Overdrive or Chill

Are you in chill mode, or overdrive this week leading up to Christmas?  I have a tendency to be in overdrive all year long.  However, if there is one person who can get me to slow down, it's my 16 year old.  Even before he was born.  I was an administrative assistant when I was carrying him.  When I was approaching my eight month, my doctor thought he may be coming a little early, and put me in the hospital for observation.  Nothing happened, but she suggested that I take maternity leave right away.  Weeks passed, and he just chilled.  I went to full term.  A healthy, happy, baby boy was born.  When I told him this story many years ago, he said, "I just wanted you to rest".  Well, he made me promise to take it easy this week.  So, no major projects, no working non-stop.  I gave him a ride to school today, and after stopping at our local bakery, this window display caught my eye.


One of my favorite things to do as a child was drive around with my family and look at Christmas decorations.  I've been so busy lately, that I hadn't even noticed this display.  I'm glad my son reminded me to slow down.



This window is so festive.



So, I'm going to continue to chill, focus on the reason for the season,



and enjoy the simple things surrounding me.

    Good for you:) Sometimes children just know how to put things into prospective, don't they. One of my favorite things to do is to drive around and see all of the decorations too. We ooooh and aaaaah. Lots of fun:)

    Great attitude, Rosemary. Good for you. I can't really get into the swing of Christmas because our weather has been downright balmy. I'm hoping for a little snow. :)

    Awww, how cute of your son to say that! I did all my baking a couple of weeks ago and put it in the freezer, all the shopping's done and everything's wrapped but I do need a few more food items.

    I am a relaxed person by nature, I don't think my body has an overdrive setting!

    The family is coming in about 3 hrs...6 + 7 = 13 for 13 days...Whew! I'm chilling for these next 3 hrs for sure bc then I may not be! So for now, I'm with you!

    Last week felt like overdrive....really trying to have a chill week though....same as you, to concentrate on family & the birth of Jesus :) Can't wait to come over and get inspired after Christmas...been busy at the store, so not much time to visit with everyone! I have to tell you that Karrie gave me the coolest chippy white angel garden ornament for Christmas....made me think of you!

    Love your new layout! I'm in chill mode this week, at least for today. You have a very mature and wise son! My son is the same age and sometimes he surprises me with his insights. I love the photo of the Word! He is the reason for the season!

    I went with my daughters family to view christmas lights in my neighbor. I think this one house should be on CNN, there house and trees are fabulous

    This is such a good post! I think that window display is so cute. I am just now starting to be in "chill mode". I had some things that needed tending to this week, but now that they're done, I can probably start to chill. I still have to get some groceries for the dessert I'm going to make for Christmas Eve and wrap "Santa" gifts for my 10 yr old. He still believes (thank goodness). I'm going to be very busy house hopping over the next few days though. That is going to be the part that keeps me from completely resting. I will be glad when it's 12/26! Then I'm officially in "chill mode". Ha!

    I've managed both! I love the getting it all done stuff and the relaxing time as well. I love to ask my kids what they want to do for a day. They usually like to relax and just be together and so do I!

    Tis the season to relax...I've been in overdrive for the past few months and now it's telling on me. Everyday I come home I'm exhausted and can barely visit blogs. I'm now learning to relax...chill...enjoy. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

    I so want to be in chill mode, but I had to take a vacation day today to finish up on my grocery shopping and cleaning. Not a good sign, but maybe I can chill starting tomorrow. Maybe!

    I should be in overdrive for another day, but I am chilling instead! HAHA! I do have two more garments to sew, but I'm not too worried, I will get them done. I have 2 1/2 days left!

    Someone on the local radio station said that people tend to view Christmas as a 'deadline' rather than a holiday. I must agree; it's no longer the sacred time of family, but of lamenting, "what's next on the agenda?"

    Your teen has the eyes of a child, and learning to cherishing this gift, to again see the wonder of it all, is the reason you became a mom.

    How I wish my kids were teens again!
