Old World Message Boards

My "Old World" finish, cork board, drop cloth, vintage stamps, and black ink.  That's what I used to make my message boards.

I gave two vintage frames my "Old World" finish.

I cut cork board to fit each frame, and covered the board with drop cloth material.  I applied the fleur de lis, and lettering  with my vintage rubber stamps.   I wanted the images to be a tad faded, so I just applied light pressure with the stamps.  I painted the wooden tags to match.

See ya soon.

  8. Dropcloths ~ genius, Rosemary! Love these and I love the stamps you used. Keeping it light for the faded look worked great. It does give it an aged look.

  29. Hi, I am a recent follower and I love your old world technique. I was wondering what kind of paint you used for the base coat? I tried the technique on some ceramic pieces and used Annie Sloans chalk paint cause it sticks to most anything. Problem was that the gesso seemed to take off the base coat in spots.... Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you
