I didn't realize just how many sewing machine drawers I had till I uncovered a few I forgot about yesterday. So, I gave another one some personality.
Here's the before.
I used the same technique shared in my "Adding Dimension" post, using wood filler instead of dimension paint, and one of my favorite stencils. I decided on an all over floral pattern. My "Old World" finish was next.
On the side with the lines, I stenciled "Create" in the center, with the floral design on either side.
I attached an ornate handle to one side.
I love this piece. I think I may do a couple more with this design.
I'm finishing up a few furniture redesigns. I'll be sharing one in my next post. See ya soon.

ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the drawers! I'm kicking myself because I two drawers leftover from a table and I threw them away! Ugh...
ReplyDeleteOk.....LUV this!!!! I've got an old drawer in the basement holding some old VCR tapes. I think that baby's gonna be the guinnea pig for a "Rosemary's Dimension" make-over! :) Do you use just a regular plastic stencil, Ro?

Love this sweet drawer. Yep, I think you need to make more:-)
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful! I love what you do to these drawers and boxes.

You are so creative! I have four of these from my Granny and Mother's old machine, but although I use the to store giftwrap ribbon, I have never painted them. The finish has alligatored, and it would probably look pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteGood tip about the wood filler. I have used a stencil with joint compound to get a raised design (successfully) but the wood filler might be less prone to chipping.
Love it Rosemary, the stencil and handle are just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have a few of those drawers too. Maybe I should get my paint brush out and get to work!?!?! LOL
