Footstool, or...

I said I had a footstool to share with you, but honestly, it could be used for many different purposes.





This redesign started life as a round piece of wood,



and three coat hooks.




I screwed the hooks to the bottom, gave it a unified color with gesso and paint,




and stenciled the alphabet to the top.  I used the same technique as the "Paris Cafe" sign I did with two different colors.






I wanted a worn look, so I sanded the lettering.  I then went over it with two shades of wax.  Instant footstool, stand, pedestal, etc.









I have a few variations on this I'll share soon.  What would you use it for?

  2. I love it, Rosemary! Very clever! I'd use it as a table raiser piece. You know, like when you are having a buffet and you want things at different heights. This would be great to put the dishes on or a variety of other things.

  12. It would look beautiful in the center of a round table to hold the napkins, salt and pepper or whatever... Maybe even a plant when dinner is over.

  14. Well it's to beautiful to cover the worn letters , good question , just got an idea , what about on a kitchen table for a centre piece with maybe a glass pitcher with fresh flowers!!! Great idea...Blessings Lori

    I love this, you are so very clever...
    I would use it with a lamp on it to help adjust the height of the lamp for reading, slip a couple of books underneath, that sort of thing!!

  42. I see a plant stand. Fill a beautiful old Haeger white planter with ivy and that would do it for me. That is what I have been doing lately, repotting plants.
