I did. I just wanted to soften it up. Here's the before.
While working in the studio today, I found myself taking a soft blue/grey to it. When I started, I was thinking about what I was going to recover it with. As I continued to paint, I started loving the new color with the old fabric.
It works. So, I think I'm just going to clean up the fabric a little more.
Would you change the fabric? Just curious.

I could go either way on the fabric....it works as is, but drop cloth is always fabulous! Great paint job!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving that new paint color with the fabric.... I might just leave the fabric... it looks great. You can always change it later if you get tired of it. For now... it works!

I really like the new paint color and it goes so well with the vintage fabric! It looks like they were meant to go together, so I can see why you're thinking of leaving it. I have done that with old chairs. I got this fantastic antique chair with deep sage green velvet upholstery. Although some of it is slightly faded, I can't bare to change it! Of course, if you decide to change it, you will let us know, right? =:) xoxo, Leena

ReplyDeleteLove that shade of gray. If you are enjoying that fabric now, I would leave it. You can always change it to something different later if the mood strikes you.

I would leave the fabric it looks to be in excellent shape. I think it goes perfectly with the chair. If you wanted to add a linen look you could make a pillow to throw on it...with one of your chandies on it? Or just a loose slipcover on the chair with linen or a grain sack! Just my 2 cents worth! You always have great ideas & natural instincts...

ReplyDeleteIf you like the fabric I'd leave it, Rosemary. I think the paint color goes very well with it. You can always change it down the road if you find a fabric you fall in love with.

ReplyDeleteNo. I like that fabric with its new paint color. I assume you're selling it. If it doesn't sell, then you might consider changing the fabric to see if that makes a difference.

Fabulous idea! Painting the wood totally changed the looks of the chair. I really like the fabric now. It doesn't look tired anymore. I think I'd keep the fabric for now. You can always change it later if the urge strikes. Frani

ReplyDeletei love the new finish on the chair. the fabric is not me at all- i would go plain jane but with texture like linen or burlap, or i would go with something funky and modern. i am just not a floral fabric kind of gal though.

I think changing the color was the right call and I love the fabric - keep it!
