Here is the before.
I wanted a thick, slightly imperfect paint finish. I added layers of paint and texture, blue ledger paper to the drawer front, and changed the hardware.

That before was really ugly. I would not have thought that it could have been saved, but your after is stunning. I love the script - really nice touch.
