Last year, I did this similar redesign. You can review the technique HERE.
This time, instead of a grain sack, I used burlap for the top. I hand washed the burlap, to soften it. Next came the webbing.
The beginning.
I painted the legs an off white, and antiqued them with stain.
I'm going to be very busy this week. I'm getting ready for two shows, followed by an annual event. I'll give you the details soon.

Hi Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great fairly quick project. My favorite kind!
With that color ticking, I could also see the legs in a distressed red.
Great job, looks like a million bucks.

I love all your footstools. Beautiful. The webbing adds a nice finishing touch too.
ReplyDeleteI really like the combo of textures on this project. LOVE the burlap and the webbing used together. Nice!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome, but burlap is on my short list of things I have a love/hate relationship with. I made some pillows today that went pretty smooth however.

Your work is so neat and lovely, Rosemary. You make it sound easy but I can see there's a lot of care and craft in the things you make. Seriously, when do you get your own show?
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm in love with this. The webbing makes it so very cool. Great idea. I would love to try this. I guess the trick is to find the sacks. Haven't seen any in these parts.

Gorgeous! I love the burlap / grainsack seat. I found one a few months back and I was going to make a pillow out of it, but maybe I'll save it til I find a little bench to do over! :)
