I want to thank everyone for all of your sweet comments, and encouragement, while I've been working like crazy during my busy time of year. If I seem MIA, it's because I'm busy. If I don't have a chance to reply to your comments, just know that I do read, and appreciate every one of them. If I don't leave a comment on your blog, don't assume I haven't been admiring your posts. If I seem like I'm rambling, just know that I am REALLY tired. So, this post, like my brain, is a little all over the place.
I just picked up this piece at an estate sale. What do you think of the mirror? Not sure how I feel about the whole criss-cross thing. I have another idea in mind.
This "Paris" rack was a quick project. It's a drawer front from a chest that wasn't salvageable. I just added the lettering, and distressed it a bit. There's a hanger on the back. Instant rack. I sold vintage paintbrushes at The Arboretum Sunday. I'll have more at Kane.
I embraced the rust on this next piece.
I found it like this.
I gave it a good cleaning, sealed it with matte spray, and added the lettering and numbering. Looks kinda postal now.
I just finished this chair. I gave it a funky paint treatment, and did the graphic on a plain piece of burlap. Not quite done with the tall chest behind it.
Speaking of tall, here's another piece I picked up at a garage sale last week. I snapped a pic before I loaded it up. It's a vintage medical cabinet. It has all the original crystal knobs, and the piece on top attaches at the back.
Okay, enough rambling. Time to get back to work. My next post should be less manic. Oh, seriously, what do you think of the mirror on that piece in the first photo?
You've got such a great eye! I know what "busy" means. But I guess we should be thankful that we are so busy. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteTake care,

Ooooh, Aaaah. *clap clap clap*
ReplyDeleteNice Stuff!! Not so sure about the mirror on that first piece either...
I am in LOVE with that medical cabinet. If only I lived closer, I would try to talk you into selling it for sure :) I am sure you will do something amazing with it.
ReplyDeleteI love that first piece, Rosemary! I would like the mirrored portion better if it had clear glass, because I do like that pattern on it. I love windows with that design. But I could live with the mirror.
ReplyDeleteI can see you have been busy ! No wonder your tired ! But girl you have some great stuff !That mirror kinda reminds me of the windows in the English Tudor houses . I think you will come up with something wonderful for it . Good job !
ReplyDeleteRosemary,
ReplyDeleteWhat garage sales are you going to?I never get that lucky.Great finds. And I LOVE that metal "postal" bench. You sure are busy. You must be selling up a storm.

Rosemary that last piece is awesome! I can't wait to see what you do with it, though it looks perfect just the way it is!

I actually like the criss cross thing. Think it makes it look kinda Frenchy. You're brave attacking all that rust. And the medicine cabinet is, I'm sure, a one of a kind vintage piece that will get snagged right up! And you know what they say....Idle hands are the devil's playthings:) Hang in there.

Love your medical cabinet. What a find.
ReplyDeleteI love the first piece with the criss cross! I can see a kitchen island. Would luv to find a piece like that! Too bad we are not closer. Hugs. Lynn

ReplyDeleteThat is a goregeous piece but your talented eye and intuition is correct. There is something about the criss cross design that doesn't go with the rest of the piece. A solid mirror with that treatment that dissolves part of the silvering on the back would be so much prettier! I'm sure you've got some trick up your sleeve to make it much better than it is now. Don't forget to share with us when you have time! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteI love that medicine cabinet! What a great find. You know what? I actually like that mirror. It's a really pretty piece! You have an amazing eye for these things though, so whatever you come up with is going to be just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your show went well!
Have a great week,
Kathleen
Wow...and I thought I was busy! Anyway, I love the first piece, but not the mirror part...well, especially the criss-crosses. I bet I know what you have in mind, but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteHello Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting - anything- I love your blog. I may be the only one but I love the mirror on the first piece. I love the entire piece! You have come across some amazing pieces this week. I love them all and can't wait to see them "roseafied"
Hope you are at least etting some rest!
Hugs
Roxanne
I feel a bit like you about that mirror. I'm not quite sure it is working for me. I do like that rusted table that you cleaned up. Congrats on your successful show too!
ReplyDeleteYou are sooo busy! As ever! How do you do it? I'm not sure if I like the mirror on the door front or not? It's unique though! xo wendy
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking time to post these wonderful finds - wish I lived closer too!!! I would snap up that criss-cross mirrored cabinet just as it sits...but can't wait to see what you do with it. Great way to finish the metal table and that medical cabinet is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThe old medical cabinet will be fabulous when you work your magic
ReplyDeleteand to find it at a yard sale wow
I LOVE that first piece Rosemary! Even if you decide to change out the mirror, I know it will be fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteHi Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteI like the mirror. It looks like a piece of furniture I would see in a showhouse ...that is after you do your magic to it :)
Dee
The mirror is a bit flashy for my taste -- I vote for chicken wire or metal window screen instead!
ReplyDeleteRosemary:
ReplyDeleteI love the mirror in the first piece. Maybe you could figure out a way to "mercury glass" it or distress it somehow? I think it would be marvelous that way.
...and PS - I love the cross-hatched piece over the mirror. I'd use this as a bar table if I owned it.
ReplyDeleteI don't care for the mirror but I don't really trust my own opinion sometimes, lol. The medical cabinet.....SOLD!!! How much would it cost to ship it to Texas?? What a wonderful piece.

Hi Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteI happen to love the mirror, and criss cross detail. It's unique. I like unique. I actually love the color, too. Maybe some wax, and call it a day? I'd buy it! Don't forget to breathe!
Hi Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteI like the mirror. It's unique, and glams up the piece. Maybe age the glass?
Planning a gesso treatment for a mirror and a lamp in the near future. I'll share pics when I'm done!

I love the mirror on that piece. I saw a dental cabinet (very similar to what you have) with all the trays at an antique store last week. The price was over $3000! Good luck in your sale this weekend.
