I made a little pillow with grain sack material.
The rose was made with a lace scrap, and a vintage button. It makes a nice embellishment.
I found these little baskets at an estate sale.
This is what I did with one of them.
I stamped the lettering and chandelier image on a scrap of fabric, and decoupaged it. I wanted an old grungy look, so I dry brushed grey on the basket. I then did a light brushing over the fabric.
Great for a bundle of lavender.
The weather sorta forced me to rest a bit. Is it hot in your neck of the woods? We're suppose to have a little relief, then, hot again. I'm so looking forward to Autumn. See ya soon.

Love your pillow with the rose! We've been having unusually overcast weather in Santa Barbara. Which is fine with me. I think I would melt into a puddle in the heat you describe. We're having a bit of a drought so overcast keeps the fire danger lower. Love you creativity...keep us the great posts!

of course ... love it
ReplyDeletetake it easy woman!!
Yes, it's still extremely hot and humid here. Better to stay inside. You amaze me at how you can "whip up" treasures in one day!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to cool off inside. Cute pillow Rosemary and those baskets got a terrific makeover!
ReplyDeleteLove these baskets you transformed! It has been hot here in Colorado, too. Thank God for AC! Stay cool.....

These junky little baskets are now going to be coveted treasures! Your a trend setter, Rosemary! You're going to start a basket shortage here in Illinois, now, I can see it coming. Why hasn't Flea Market Mag contacted you yet?
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention Autumn because I've been thinking about it on a regular basis! Very hot here today too. It hit 102. Love the little pillow...anything grain sack tugs at my heart. Enjoy the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteCute pillow and baskets. It's been ridiculously hot and humid, even first thing in the morning. So I just remember to be thankful for AC and ample drinking water. I just wish we'd get some rain.
ReplyDeleteI never see you sew---I love the pillow! That lace rose is really sweet.
ReplyDeleteIt is in the 80's here...but super humid. Just hanging out drinking ice tea and getting nothing done.
Take care of that blood pressure!
Sounds like you had a successful day and a much need slow down break. Love what you did with the basket and the pretty pillow made from scraps. I don't do well in the heat. We've had some cooler than normal temps the last couple of days, but heating up again before the weekend.
ReplyDeleteTake care of you!!!
i love the basket xxxxx
ReplyDeleteGoodwill was overflowing with baskets when I was there yesterday, Rosemary. I thought I found a great one but the bottom seemed a bit wonky. Now I'm thinking I should have gotten in anyway. It would have been perfect for a french label. I love the fabric label you added to yours. Your lace flower is beautiful! I haven't given that a try yet. I'm sure mine would come out looking more like a trampled weed!
ReplyDeleteToo hot here, too. The humidity is horrible. I think the heat index had us at 100 again. We are supposed to get rain and I really hope we do!
So pretty! You have the best ideas!
ReplyDeleteI Love the Basket!!!!!!!!

it's crazy hot here as well and, oui, it makes one "slow down" a bit to try to stay "cool." I need to find a few projects like yours to help em do so. Love the basket transformation! ;)
ReplyDeleteWell Rosemary it's not hot here!
ReplyDeleteIn fact we've been cool and drizzily, and July is

ReplyDeleteI am really sorry that your blood pressure has been bothering you. I am sure that the heat doesn't help! Please take care of yourself and stay inside as much as possible! We have been having high temps as well. I want to work in my yard as it's getting a bit shaggy, but the heat is awful! Hope we get a cold front in here soon. Love the basket! Take care dear friend! Hugs, Leena
