It's only been four days, but I feel like I've had a nice little vacation from blogging. I actually listened to some of you who told me to get some rest. I've been in serious overdrive lately, and needed to take a quick break. Tons of tag orders, my show, having to fill orders that backed up on me during my show. I hit a wall Monday, and literally felt like I couldn't move. Amazing what a little sleep and focus will do. Better now.
I promised some of you I would explain what I did to the little chest I showed you in my last post. Not that complicated really.
I removed the little diamond shaped pieces, and decoupaged vintage ledger paper to the drawers. I have lots of vintage ledger paper.
It seemed a little naked,
So, I added a vintage wooden drawer pull to the top. Just nailed it in.
I only had one of the cute metal knobs, so I used rusted vintage eyelet screws for the rest of the drawers. I finished it with brown wax.
I like thinking outside the box when it comes to hardware. Remember the frenchy jewelry box I used numbered tacks on? You can see that post HERE.
Using horseshoes for handles? Something that got a big response last year. Come to think of it, I used numbered tacks on this piece too. You can review that post HERE.
I did it more than once. Check out this one HERE.
Be unique.
Kicking back a bit more, and working on my horribly neglected decor. See ya soon.

Your projects are always so pretty, Rosemary. I love that door handle that you hammered into the top of your first drawer creation--it's lovely. I used to ride, and was good friends with a horseshoer--I wish I had her number now to see if she has anymore horseshoes after seeing your post today :)

Hi Rosemary for your beautiful visit and comment to my cage, and yes some sort of bird would be cute in the cage, and if I was a sea cottage I would fill it with shells, starfish, and sand dollars giving it that crab gage look.
ReplyDeleteLove your art with paper ephemera, I forgot how much I loved doing this, I would cover everything, if you go back far enough in my postings you will see all kinds of paperwork in covering just about anything and everything :)
You inspire me girl, and I just might get back to a bit of papering.

I don't put as much effort into my own blog the way you do and yet I needed to take a little break while trying to prepare for my first show, so I KNOW you definitely needed one! I do love your small drawer pieces and I keep wanting to do some myself, just don't seem to find them at reasonable prices. Not giving up on them tho! ;)
