Gaining Vision

You know what?  Posting about my living room is forcing me to work on it. Thanks for wanting to see it finished.  I want to see it finished too.   My vision for it is gaining momentum.  Here are some of the things that will be incorporated.

I received some interesting emails regarding my last post about "Vintage Minimalism", and getting rid of the clutter.  Now, when I say clutter, I don't mean decorative clutter.  No, I'm talking about work clutter.  My redesigns invade what is suppose to be my sanctuary.  I work inside a lot, and if I don't move things like paint, brushes, tools, clay, paper, etc., out as soon as I'm done with it, it ends up in the corner.  Then, I'm move on to something else, and that will end up on top of the stuff in the corner. When the corner is full, stuff ends up on the side of the sofa, etc., etc., etc.

When I get rid of the "Work Clutter", I really don't have that much in my living room.

It's minimal.

I'll be decorating, mostly, with items I already have. I'm just "redesigning" most of them.  I painted this lamp base quite a while ago, and left it outside to weather.  I love the details.

It's going to be a candle stand.  The ornate plaques, of which I have quite a few, will be organized into one statement piece.  I have a vision.  I just have to execute it.  First, I have to finish painting them all.

I'm using of my "Old World Finish".  Alternating layers of white and grey, with a bit of wiping back as I go.

Yes, I've been shopping my own home and garage.  Realizing that I already have most of what I need to decorate.  It is minimal after all.  Plus, I'm the thrifty sort who loves a challenge.  Quite often, you just have to re-imagine things.

  6. I know what you mean about work clutter! Living in a small house I actually live in the livingroom:) So out comes the ironing board, the sewing machine...piles of fabric..some cans of paint. Then because I hate clutter and a mess, I turn into "mean Mommy" until everything is all cleaned up...even though it is usually my stuff making the mess:) Other bloggers do keep us on our toes--now you have to finish your livingroom :)

  7. I don't know if I'd ever get a room redone if I didn't say I was doing it on my blog. Of course, I have craft stuff in every room of the house! Get 'er done so we can see it! ~ Maureen

  9. I understand completely about blogging helping get rooms finished. Sharing the progress and getting feed back supports us making progress and yes, we feel guilty if we don't have anything to show our blogging friends! I'll be back to see more! (That's the whole reason I made Hubby's Victorian Study into its own blog, so I had to work on it!)
