I've collected ephemera for many, many, years. I don't download them, and I don't have a secret source. I'm the source. The script you saw in my last post, is a copy I made from the 175 year old diary I shared HERE. If I ever use another source, I'll definitely share it.
I copied the page, and decoupaged the sheet to the mat board.
Also, I did not cut the hole. I have lots of mat boards. I always pick them up at garage sales, estate sales, etc.
Again, most of my questions come from "NO-REPLY" commenter's. PLEASE, read my post, HERE, to find out how to fix that. If you don't, I can't answer your questions.
Okay, I've been having fun with my rusty crowns, but I've had requests for my shabby tiaras.
I was able to find enough salvage metal with the same pattern to make two of these.
Yes, that's another mat board on the right, decoupaged with a copy of vintage fleur-de-lis paper. I'm also working on frames, using some of my postcard images. Not quite finished with these.
Yes, I have lots of vintage postcards in my stash.

Hi Rosemary. I too am à big gather of éphémère art you Will notice in my much older postings that I have worked with paper. My big problem is that I tend to love working with the original art and not make copies and down the line it's gone forever so I have to be really sure I am willing to waste it on a project or save it for something special at a later date of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI make and cover paper boxes with 100-200 year old ephemera paper and then don't want to list the pieces because I love the outcome so.
I need to start making copies more often I might have more artful etsy listings lol!

ReplyDeleteLove your crowns, and everything else you do. You have a real knack for texture and layering and making stuff look crusty and old - and I mean that in the best, swoon-worthy way possible, you know what we shabby chic girls love!
Here's a thought for your Etsy shop - have you considered possibly making high-quality digital scans of some of your lovely ephemera and providing those to buyers in .pdf format in your Esty shop? You could also just make high-quality copies and provide sheets to people - I'm certain you'd have tons of interested buyers (me being one!).

ReplyDeleteLove your crowns as usual. It's so great that you have so much stuff in your stash from ages ago. What a treasure to have for sure. I spotted an old biology notebook/lab-book with lots of hand-written notes from roughly 100 yrs ago recently at an antique shop, I should have picked it up just to have copies of the beautiful hand-writing in it. Next time I'm there shopping I'm going to see if they still have it. Can't believe I passed it up now.
I try to keep a few hundred postcards around to use along with vintage newspapers and old letters and old diaries...well, you know how it piles up after years of collecting. I love the way you use your images. Your post on selling at your weekend booth was very entertaining!
