Box Transformation Ideas, Part I

If you've been following me for any length of time, you know I love transforming boxes. Yesterday, I realized I've shared 100 or so box/crate/storage transformations since starting this blog two years ago. I just love all the design possibilities. So, for my new followers, and long timers who may have missed a few, I thought it would be nice to group redesign ideas from various box categories.  Starting with lidded boxes.

I decoupaged this box with a tissue copy of script, and a section of a vintage French postcard.  You can read how I copy onto tissue HERE.  The interior was white washed, and scripted as well.

For all you bird lovers.

The silverware box above is from my post, "Watch The Birdie".  I'd only been blogging a short time when I shared it.  I used a bird from a cuckoo clock,

glued it to the top of the box, and gave it several coats of paint.  The interior I decorated with vintage wallpaper.

I love redesigning silverware boxes.  I find them at thrift stores, garage sales, etc.,  and they're usually in sad condition.  I just gut the interior, and have at it.

This is another silverware box I redesigned.  The interior is decoupaged with vintage wrapping paper.

For the top, I used a rose applique.  It was painted white as well, followed by dark wax for the antique finish.

A couple posts back, I showed you my simple angel silverware box.

Well, I did the same with my French graphic.

I also added a screw-in knob.

I added script to the interior.

This box was just white washed, and scripted.

This box received an applique, book pages, and an antique finish.

Here are a few more ideas for lidded boxes.  How about adding a little metal decoration to the lid.

This music box was white washed, which softened the original color.  I used a metal fragment, and numbered tack as embellishment.  You can review that post HERE.

Here's another one.  Same idea, with script.

This next box was part of one of my giveaways.

I used a dimensional design, and an applique on the exterior, and, sheet music for the interior.

If you have a large lidded box, why not add legs?

I turned this box into a footstool.  You can review how HERE.

Here's another cardboard box idea.  I glued lace to the top, and gave the entire thing multiple coats of white paint.

The interior has a French book page.
