Redesigned Plaque

This is what I did with the plaque from my last post.

Originally vertical,

I painted over the flowers,  white washed the scrolls,

turned it on it's side,

and added one of my vintage graphics.  This is a reduced tissue copy of an old sheet music cover.

I distressed the edges a bit.

Another inside project for a hot, and humid day.

  1. Luv it! was wondering what you were going to put there. Checked twice today peeking to see :-)
I stayed in as well. the high was 90 at 3 pm.. I think not, with spoon-able humidity. Def an A/C kinda day . So I started a commissioned piece I got yesterday. Primed out the canvas.
    Have a wonderful evening Rosemary.

  5. That looks great! It was the hottest day of the year here today. I knew it as soon as I opened the front door. The air felt so thick and steamy hot. I stayed inside to avoid it except for running an errand in the late afternoon. Now, it's raining again. Argh! Stay cool!

  6. Rosemary, I love the music box. You have created such a beautiful piece out of something I would have thrown out. I would love to see inside that creative mind of yours.

Did you remove the top piece to cover it with the tissue or did you do it right over top of the picture?

  8. Love it, Rosemary! I love the scrolls and it looks great with that whitewashed look. Love the image, too. Except for a rosebush I bought the other day {and still have to plant}, I'm trying to do everything inside as well.

  9. Lové it so much better, you took it from dated to updated :)
Really will be a piece to enjoy for a long time, or one that won't last long in your shop.

I hate the heat also Rosemary, I saw your comment over at Joys savvy city farmer.
It's been hot here and I too have been staying in with the cooler cranked up and painting all my projects in the kitchen where I can stay cool.

Have a beautiful weekend my friend, I hope you are back to your old self, feeling better then every.
    Blessed you are.
