I envisioned something simple, with old world appeal.
I used a homemade gesso recipe for the foundation. The consistency is different than commercial acrylic gesso, and it has more weight.
I used homemade paints for the grey background colors, and to paint the fleur-de-lis design as well.
Distressing it was the best part.
I love the crumbling look.

Lovely -- love the colors and I have to agree with the distressing. Sometimes I'm pretty sure that's my favorite part of every project!
