I think I deserve a lazy day. For the past week, I've been going full steam with the FARRAGOZ review, finishing up my byzantine icon,
experimenting with paint techniques from the course (You can read about the course HERE),
starting new projects,
organizing the studio, and garage, etc., etc.
Yes, I need a lazy day.

We've been doing a little hunting the past couple days. I found this demijohn buried behind a pile of baskets at a thrift shop. It was marked $4.00, but, it was HALF-PRICE day. So, I paid $2.00.
Hubby picked up four chippy metal chairs,
and, this cabinet.
I'm sitting here, trying to deciding what to do with the cabinet. What do you think? Over the top "Old World", simple, leave as-is? Hmmmmmm, it may be getting a complete makeover. Not today though. I'm going back to being lazy.
See ya soon.

Hi Rosemary! Those are some really nice finds! I love the cabinet! I would probably leave as is, but I know you'll transform it into something even more beautiful! Enjoy the rest of your day! Blessings from Bama!

Have fun being lazy--you don't do that often enough! I love that cabinet--can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteGLAD you are taking a day (or two) to rest your mind, body and soul.
ReplyDeleteYou will create twice as much if and when you give yourself rest, too.
I am the queen of it, haha.
Lovin your thrifty finds, ma'am!
Those are great finds! I especially like that demijohn. I'm sure however you decide to fix up that cabinet, it will turn out beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see that cabinet sanded down to bare wood and oiled or waxed! I know that whatever you decide it will be perfect!
ReplyDeleteDid it rain by you today? It rained here and I used it as an excuse to do things normal people do every day...like laundry, vacuuming, etc! LOL! My neighbor's must think I am a lunatic, what with working in the gardens every single day!
I hope you enjoyed your leisure time, if anyone deserves it...it's you...
xo

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you're taking time out to take care of yourself. You'll be better off for it. That will get those creative juices flowing again when you need them! Love that demijohn you found. I think that cabinet would look good with a new paint treatment too. You know so many techniques that I'm sure you'll find just the right one for it.

Oh Rosemary! Everything you do is beautiful and fascinating. I love the angel -- love, love it! The cabinet is a great find and am excited to see what you do with it, too.
ReplyDeleteGood girl. Keep doing lazy days here and there. Balance. Now, that being said, I'd give one of your treatments to that cabinet. The original one is a bit too...something. Or else not enough something. You'll make it sing!

Rosemary, you and your husband find the be a best stuff!!! In my small city, which happens to be a college town, one would think there would be a plethora of great sources. We know of 4 (very small)...and 2 of those have kind of been private finds we've not shared with many.
ReplyDeleteIf I shared my thought with you on the cabinet, I know you would do something 100x better. Instead, I can't wait to see what gorgeous creation comes from your mind and hands.
Chill days are the best! I took today off from work -- it was SO great to go to garage sales on a Friday MORNING! Then came home and started working on some of my finds. I really love that cabinet but the hardware is not my style and I prefer your finishes to what it is right now.
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet has great bones and will be gorgeous no matter what you decide. I need to join your "chill day" club. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I never noticed before but hubby's got the eye!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly do get a lot accomplished at all times. Honoring a day of rest for yourself is quite necessary dear. Beautiful creations...
