Remember, not that long ago, I was molding, and sculpting with clay. Well, for the past few weeks, I've been envisioning plaster sculptures. Especially crowns. Today, I finished my first.
This crown is made entirely out of plaster. It's solid plaster. I wanted it to be substantial, and, to look as if it had been detached from something. So, I intentionally gave the bottom a rough appearance.
I applied layers of paint in various consistencies, until I got the look I wanted.
It's 4" tall, 4" square up top, and 2-3/4" in diameter at the base.
Rosie approves.
I'm happy, no, thrilled at how it turned out. I'll be playing around with various finishes on my other ones.
How do you like it?
I have a few more plaster designs I'll be sharing soon.

ReplyDeleteI love the plaster crown, very creative!
ReplyDeleteIt has your signature look to it for sure
ReplyDeleteHi Rosemary, great minds think alike :)
ReplyDeleteI also has plaster type art on my mind and with my crosses and altar like pices I went an add a great ne crown to my designs, I am working to list it in my esty before the night is over.
Love your crown Nd it would definitely be a piece I would pick up and bring home if I happened upon it at some great salvage shop.
Love the rough bottom and it does look worn and aged as if it was marriages with another piece like a finial that sits on top of a birdbath or a cement column of sorts.
Just love it and its patina is great.
Thank you for taking the time to visit me.
