The Vintage Faire

This past weekend, I set up at a show in Minooka, IL.  It was The Vintage Faire.  You can find out more about it HERE.

I know.  I didn't give everyone advanced notice.

The reason?  I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it this month.  If you recall, I had a sick van.  It was almost showtime before the van was out of the shop.

I had a great time, sold a bunch, and, plan to be back next month.

Now, if all goes according to plan, I will be selling at Kane County this coming weekend, August 2nd.

Weathered Beauties

I fell in love with these vintage lead numbered drawer pulls the moment I discovered them at a garage sale. They were nestled in the back of a drawer.

I love the beautifully weathered surfaces.  I'll be incorporating them into future projects.

Here's a recent project I completed using a salvaged piece of wood, and, vintage weathered hooks.

I transferred this Graphic's Fairy image onto the wood.  No painting on my part. The paint was already there. I just distressed it with some heavy duty sanding.  I cleaned the surface before I transferred the image, and, distressed it a bit more.  Then, I gave it a hand rubbed wax finish.

The vintage hooks were another garage sale find, and, a nice compliment.

I attached hangers on both sides.

I think I'll make a few more of these.

No Slowing Down

Show after show, after show, and, I had another three day sale this past weekend.

However, as I mentioned in my last post, I didn't have to drive anywhere, and, the weather was beautiful.  I sold a bunch, including everything in the photo above.

I managed to take a few photos to share.

This young lady was thrilled she happened to be driving by during my sale.  She was nice enough to pose with her finds before she loaded up.

"Will you be doing this again?", was the question from quite a few customers.

Oh, I'm sure I will.

The GOOD The Bad The Ugly Weather

First, the good.  I'll explain why I look a bit worn out in a minute.

My demo at the Three French Hens market this past Saturday went well. However, before that happened, THIS happened.

Yes, on the way to the market, in a driving rainstorm, my drive shaft broke.  My friend Rhonda was with me, and, we prayed as I managed to get to the shoulder.  I have great road service. I told them they would have to tow me to the market, and, I would call for another tow after it was over. That's right, there was no turning around at this point. Rhonda called her husband to meet us while we waited for the tow truck.  Once the truck arrived, Rhonda and Roger proceeded to the market, and, I rode along with the tow truck guy.

I was late for the start of the market, and, it was pouring rain. A tent was there for me, but, it had somewhat of a malfunction, and, we spent a good deal of time dumping water off the roof of the tent.  Quite a bit of which flew back at us.

The rain didn't lighten up till it was time for me to head over to Traci's shop for the transfer demonstration. I felt like a dish rag at this point.

Rhonda manned the booth, while I attended the luncheon.  She did quite well during my absence. We completed what was left of the market, packed, and, I waited for my next tow.

I stood there by my van, after all the vendors had packed and gone.  This was the scene. No rain, no thunder, no lightening.  Seriously? LOL

Once home, I was grateful Rhonda and I were not hit by one of the trucks flying by us on the road. Thank you Lord.  They were WAY TOO CLOSE.   I was grateful for good friends, with a great since of humor, who endured the ordeal with me.  I was grateful for positive feedback from those who attended the luncheon.  I was grateful for a hot shower.

So, I've had a few days rest.  Now, per request, I'm having another sale this Thursday, Friday, and, Saturday. I don't have to drive anywhere, and the weather forecast looks great.

Sale Over, Market Next

My three day sale is over, and, it was a success.

The vintage lockers were one of the first things to sell.  I made this couple very happy.

Another customer grabbed my bench and a few more items the first day,

and, came back the second, and, third day.

I didn't take as may pics as I wanted to.  Most customers were driving away when I thought about it.

Now, I'm getting ready for the Three French Hens Market in Morris, IL, this coming Saturday, July 12th.

If you're planning to come out to see me, remember, I'll be taking a quick selling break around noon to do a demo at the luncheon.

Whew.

Tent/Garage/Studio Sale

After multiple shows, I'm still in super sales mode.  I contemplated another show this weekend, but, decided on having a sale instead.  That's right, July 4th weekend.

My sale will be Thursday, Friday, and, Saturday.  I'll have items under tent, on the lawn, in the driveway, and, the garage.

Super busy getting ready.  I'll try to have more pics for you tomorrow. I have to get the abyss (aka. my garage) far more organized than it is right now.

I'll have a bit of everything.
