After selling several of my handmade metal angel wings on Etsy to the same customer,
I had a request to make a bunch of my small angel wings.
A few email exchanges revealed the reason why.
My customer is a nurse. These little wings will be part of a going home package for premature babies.
Oh my goodness.
After learning the destination of the wings, I shared a story with my customer that I'll now share with you.
Before we married, aside from his regular job, my husband volunteered in the pediatric ward of a hospital. When I saw him holding a preemie, that was it, I was in love.
Sending hugs, and, kisses to all the precious little ones. I'm honored to be a small part of your life.

ReplyDeleteYour story touched my heart personally. My son was born three months premature thirty-four years ago and those cuddling times are still very vivid to me. It really takes a very special person to want to cuddle those tiny struggling babies and I can see why your heart melted. Your wings are lovely and will truly be cherished by the families forever.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Rosemary! Your touching story made me cry. You can't know how much your angel wings mean to the parents of those precious babies. Taking home a baby who you thought would never make it is such a miraculous feeling. Years ago, our preemie son had a stay in the the newborn ICU. After he was born, his kungs and kidney simply shut down. His prognosis was not good. We spent many hours praying and crying our baby would live. At last when the day came for us to take him home, I felt I was holding him with his guardian angel right beside him. Bless you!

ReplyDeleteRosemary what a wonderful story and women. My nephew was a very early premature baby. So tiny he had to get formula from an eye dropper. Everyone was afraid to touch him when he came home except his father and mother.
