My Little Chandelier

I took a break from furniture late yesterday and had fun with a little chandelier I picked up recently.

This is how I found it.

I envisioned something lighter with more character and bling. I gave it a thick coat of antique white, and went through my stash of prisms to dress it up.

Here is another one with a different style. It was black before.

OK, back to the furniture. Till next time, don't forget to.......

Fave Find

I've been diligently working on my stash of furniture today. Until the reveal, I wanted to share my favorite weekend find.

I love this plaque. At least plaque is what I saw when I spotted it on the ground at a local flea market.

Now, obviously this was the top of a table. Apparently, everyone who saw it before I got there, saw a top without a table. I saw a plaque with a table fragment that needed to be removed.  Of course I'll find a use for the fragment later.

I paid $10.00 for it. I love the carved detail and the partially stripped finish. I'm going to leave it as is.

A few more finds.

This just makes me smile.

I have a thing for rust.

The tables will be getting a makeover. I'm keeping the detail on top, just not the way you see it here.

Yuck. Complete overhaul. Great potential.

Check back to see what I've been working on, and my vision for the tables.

Mix It Up

Remember those 9 stools and benches piled in my garage? Well, I just finished one. I wanted to mix it up a bit with the upholstery.

You can see the original upholstery peeking through here.

I was in such a hurry to get at this, that I didn't take an absolute before pic. I'd already started attaching the grainsack to the top, and painted the legs a blue/grey.

The entire project consisted of paint, sissors, hot glue, a grainsack fragment, and upholstery webbing. After securing the grainsack to the top, I hotglued the grainsack right over the original cording and wrapped the side of the stool with webbing.

I knew the webbing would be an exact fit width wise. I just had to cut a length long enough to wrap around, with a slight overlap.

I chose a blue/grey for the legs to compliment the stripe on the grainsack.

I wanted more character and texture, and I think I got it.

I'll be mixing it up again. I have a multitude of combination possibilities for the rest of my stash. I'm pondering one right now.

Have a Seat

I took a look in the garage the other day, and realized I should probably get going on a few chair projects. I currently have 14 arm chairs and approximately 9 stools and benches piled up. Today I finished this frenchy chair.

The before.

A little too dark and heavy, and I was not feeling the fabric at all.  However, it was only $10.00.

Starting with a white primer, I drybrushed multiple layers of GESSO in white, grey, and my custom mix

My final layer was a light brush of white. I honestly don't remember how many layers I applied. I recovered the seat in a nubby fabric, followed by a striped linen towel down the center. I purchased a basket full of these towels at an auction earlier in the year, and I think this one works perfectly with this chair.

More candidates await, including a line of stools and benches. Not sure about painting this chair.

I may just change the fabric. I kinda like the wood. Hmmmmm....., what do you think?

I Would Like To Thank.......

I would like to thank my good friends Sandy and Joe at Rhubarb Reign for presenting me with the Stylish Blogger Award.  Sandy and Joe are friends, fellow redesigners, and kindred spirits.  Give them a visit.

OK, with this great honor comes great responsibility.  It is my understanding that whomever receives this award must 1. Thanks and link back to the person who presented them with the award. CHECK

2. Share 7 things about themselves.

Since I like being a little different, instead of just doing a list, I am going to share 7 things about myself using previous posts.  This idea came to me when I was looking over my stats and observed which of my past posts had the most views.  So, here are my top 7 posts so far, by views, and what each one says about me.  You can click on the title to review.

Twins and Inspiration
I'm inspired by things I own.

Drama Queen
Sometimes my redesigns are inspired by my mood.

More Please

My husband inspires me.

I like to create complimentary pieces.

Dainty Duo

I love to embellish.

Feminine Flair

I can be a little girly sometimes.

Seven thing about myself. CHECK

Finally, I have to pass the award on to other bloggers I've recently discovered and let them know about it.  This was the most difficult part for me.  I have met so many wonderful bloggers, and I would love to list them all, but I decided to keep with the "seven" theme.  So, I present this award to:

Debbie at RefreshRestyle
Honey at 2805
Julia at 551 East Furniture Design
Karen at Shabby Sweet Cottage
Pattie and Paula at Ivy and Elephants
Lesley at The Homeless Finch
Brandi at Don't Disturb This Groove

If you haven't met these ladies, please do.   Stop by for a visit, and tell them Rosemary sent you.

OK, the award has been accepted, and the torch has been passed.  Back to work.

Gesso Parade

After an extremely warm and enthusiastic response to my GESSO TUTORIAL, I seem to have started a gesso parade.  Several of my readers have already jumped in.  Honey at 2805 used gesso on an ANGEL, and Karen at Shabby Sweet Cottage made over FRAMES and CORBELS.  My tutorial has also been featured at THE CHARM OF HOME.

I would like to thank both Honey and Karen for so graciously acknowledging me and my tutorial in their posts, and to Sherry for the feature. So happy to inspire you.

Today, I wanted to share another thing about gesso. Although gesso comes in white, grey and black, you can also create your own colors with it. The color you see on these two stands are my own custom mix.

These guys were rescued by my husband at a garage sale. He paid a whopping $1.00 for the pair!

I had to glue, clamp, stabilize, and fill in imperfections. $1.00 may have been too much.

To get my custom color, I just added white gesso into a sample size container of left over oops paint.

I used black gesso as a base, and my custom blue as the topcoat. Of course I changed out the hardware, and added a little embellishment to the bottom.

You will get a gesso-like finish in the color of your choice. Some other custom colors I've achieved using gesso are...

If anyone else out there has given gesso a try, let me know. Send me a pic, or give me a heads up about your post.
